About the Introductory Course Program
The Agon Shu's Introductory Course Program is one given to provide insight into the basic teachings of Agon Shu Buddhism. Such teachings are indispensable for understanding the main discipline, the intricate teachings, and the mission of Agon Shu Buddhism.
The Agon Shu's Introductory Course Program, upon completion, will serve as one of the prerequisites for Gedatsu Hoshogyo Practice (membership) application eligibility.
Lesson 1 - Acceptance vs. Challenge, The Need for Spiritual Evolution
In lesson 1, the need for spiritual evolution will be explored, and the greatest challenge in the course of spiritual development will be introduced. The need for this introduction lies in the fact that no one in most religious circles is paying much attention to it despite its great effects, much less to how to tackle it. Through this lesson, you may realize the flaws in the popular stance of "acceptance" and "leaving everything the way it is" and take a glimpse of the main issue in human spirituality.
This lesson will serve as the starting point in learning Agon Shu Buddhism and the basis for learning the next lessons.
Note:
- Attendance in this lesson is strongly recommended for those who have not taken it.
- This class will be an optional recapitulation class for those who have taken it.
- You may opt to start bringing notetaking materials, which will be necessary from lesson 2.
- After the class, you can receive Tokko no Kaji Blessing and/or write Gomagi Prayer Sticks at the donation fee of your choice.
