About the event

Hoshimatsuri Star Fire Rite is the greatest annual event held at Agon Shu's Main Temple in Japan.

From ancient times, astrology has always been a way to predict future events because the position of celestial bodies and stars always aligned with specific worldly conditions. The destiny of person, society, and world has always been able to be foretold through astrological reading. The stars thus foretell the future traced by karma.

For the overwhelming accuracy of astrology and the power of karma, ancient people have always believed that fate can only be accepted until the Star Transformation Technique was created. According to legends, through the Star Transformation Technique, the fates of people were changed, creating a better alternative destiny. Agon Shu Buddhism has attained, upgraded, and expanded the esoteric power and scale of this ancient technique to the fullest through the combination of Shintoism, Shugendo, and the Sacred Stupa Worship, and created what is now known as Hoshimatsuri (Star Festival). It is always held on Sundays closest to the Lunar New Year because that is the moment when the fate of our world is found in the fork on the road. As the true theme of Buddhism is to "change fate", Agon Shu practitioners and priests join forces, pray, and burn karma in this grand rite to change the calamitous fate of people, societies, and the world and bring about peace and better livelihood around the world.
